Shown below is a rendering of The Sanderling, a 2-story, 20-unit apartment specifically designed for persons with mobility impairments, primarily wheelchair users. The 14 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom units accommodate both single adults and small families.

The Sanderling is built on one and a half acres in the Campostella Square area of Chesapeake, Virginia on land generously donated by the Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Construction commenced in October 2004 and was completed in December 2005. This HUD-sponsored project has been jointly developed by AHC and our co-sponsor, Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI).
